Pyrolysis is the controlled burning of biomass feedstock to create various bio-products. Pyrolysis typically occurs under extreme pressure and at heating temperatures of above 800 Fahrenheit. This process can be tweaked in many small ways but in most cases a little bit of oxygen is present and a small amount of oxidation occurs. This process is very efficient and returns 90% + biomass as usable bioproducts.
The organic feedstock is transformed through this process into gas, liquid and solids. The gases released, syngas, can be treated and used as a natural fuel source or used to power turbines or generators. The solids contain biochar and ash which can be refined or used in many different industries and the oils can be refined into advanced bio-fuels.
